Method # 2 – Using an electronic tuner

The electronic tuner is a device that allows you to plug in your electric guitar and tell you if the string is in tune. It’s easy; there is usually a meter that tells you that it is already in tune.

How to make your band noticed and how to be a team player

The key to a successful group career is to become one with the group, be a team player not a lone ranger. You can’t possibly do it alone and your band mates are always there to back you up, as one group. So here are some tips on how to become like that:

  1. Play your songs like your really mean it. This is very important, you must convey the emotions as well, not just a monotonous sense of performing.
  2. For guitar players – look up from the fretboard because it is not fun to watch guitar players who stare blankly on the fretboard the whole gig, so use the force within you and look to the crowd.
  3. Make an effort to look the part. Whether its sharp suits, ridiculous black metal clobber or nun outfits, the first bit is with the eye. The band that looks the part is off to a head start.
  4. Talk to the crowd. Be yourself, talk about whatever you like, talk to them like they are your friends, and they will become your friends.
  5. Rock out in practice. Rocking out with your instrument is a skill like any other; it takes practice.

Playing like Chuck Berry

Do you want to play like a legend? Let’s say, Chuck Berry? The legendary guitar player who created the rock and roll anthem, “Johnny B Goode.” Well, I’ll tell you what it takes to be someone like him. First, practice. You should first reach a certain level of maturity in guitar playing and the only way that you could reach that is through handwork and constant practice. Once you get to acquire all of these, you‘ll be ready to get the gears. The gears are an important as well because you cannot sound like him if you don’t use the same equipments or use something close to it. Besides, he’s the first rock and roll star, the first true Rockstar; he combined blues and country plus lyrics about girls and cars added to his explosive performance and powerful guitar solo.

In his early years, he uses a Gibson 350ET with P90 single coils. And then the dawn of humbuckers came and switched into a Gibson ES 330 and ES 355 (that’s why I want this guitar) until now he still uses the same guitars plugged into a Fender Dual Showman. He’s is pretty much popular for his double stops which he exploits on intros and solos.

PULL OFF

Guitar techniques are the ingredients in making your guitar playing more enhanced and far from mediocre.  Mastering all these guitar techniques would definitely boost up your guitar skills noticeably.  But the problem is, you could not just master it all at once.  There is a certain ladderized stage where you should walk through because he could not just simply digest it all in one go.  These techniques are not easy to do specially for the people who are just starting to play the guitar and it takes a lot of time to master each one of them so you better be ready and get your hands on a technique one at a time.

A pull off is the very opposite of a hammer on.  But for the benefit of those who don’t know what the hammer on is, it is a guitar technique that involves two different notes.  You pluck the first note and you hammer the second higher note on the same string.  Doing a pull off is like doing the complete opposite of a hammer on.  To do a pull off, you must first pluck the higher note and pluck a second lower note with the same left finger.  And that is it.

Before you go out and look for a band manager, you should first put this into consideration; not all band managers are good and effective.  Some are just squeezing out money from you.  I’ve heard a lot of cases regarding this matter where is a band manager asked first money in exchange of success.  This is a very wrong thing to do.  Because the primary goal of a band manager is to ensure the success of their band and not to make money first.  So if you don’t want to fall victim from this evil people, read the following tips on how to determine if he or she is a good manager.

PRACTICE DURATION

As a guitar player, have you ever ask yourself question on how much time should you usually spend on practice?  Because you want to know if you are overdoing it or what you’re doing is not enough.  Basically that is the reason behind the question, or maybe we just wanted to know if your practice duration affects the speed in which you are learning guitar.  This means that the more time they spent practicing, the faster you learn.  In a way that is correct, because practice does indeed make things perfect or make you do things perfect because you’re used to it and also because the more you do a thing or an act or an action, the more you get used to it, and the more you get used to it, the more better you are in doing it.

But actually, it doesn’t really matter how much time you practiced each day, it is actually how much time did you spend in your entire life practicing.  For example, if you want to go to a music school, you would need at least 1000 hours of practice time to graduate.  So it depends to you how fast or how quickly you want to finish that 1000 hours of practice.

PRACTICE

Some guitar players are bored with the group practice.  One reason for the boredom that they are experiencing every time they have group practice is simply because it is literally boring.  And I tell you my brothers and sisters that your practice should not be a boring event in our lives as band members and musicians.  Practice should be one of the coolest periods of our lives.  If you are currently not experiencing this certain coolness in your group practices then something is very much wrong with the way you’re practicing.

So you’re asking me now, what should you do to improve your practice with your respective groups are bands?  Well, there is only one answer to that: enjoy.  You should really learn how to enjoy your practice.  Also a good thing to do when you’re practicing is to also rehearse what stances, moves or whatever you would want to do on stage when you are actually performing.  Practice is not only for music but also for your stage presence in your stage performance.  So when you practice, enjoy like there’s no tomorrow and also rehearsed the moves that you’re going to do when you perform live.  By doing so, each member off your band will be excited for the next practice.  Problem solved!

Scheduling your guitar practice

If you really want to improve in your guitar playing, then you have to really work hard for it.  And working hard means, practicing it very religiously.  If you have enough determination and discipline, practicing is not a problem.  You can even practice for hours per day without getting tired.  To help you with that practice, I would like to suggest to you something that would improve your guitar practice.  Usually, we just practice anything we like and on any day we like.  That will not work at all.  This is one of the reasons why beginners don’t succeed or progress because they don’t have a systematic way of practicing.  When you’re doing something, it is good to be systematic because it provides you with the continuous flow that makes it easier for you to do stuff.  It is also applicable for guitar practice.

So what I suggest is every day you practice while following the schedule.  Let’s say, first, you will spend 10 minutes for scales that you know and learn one that you don’t know.  Spend another 10 minutes for the next day you’re familiar with and learn one that you don’t know.  Then, spend 20 minutes learning some of the greatest licks from the legends.  Just make sure to organize the things that you want to practice and divide your time properly.  Do this and you will have a very smooth of flowing practice and an efficient way to improve your guitar playing.

IMPROVE YOUR GUITAR PLAYING

There are no secrets with regards to improving your guitar playing.  I will not be able to tell you the shortcut into becoming a good guitar player, because there are no shortcuts and there is no easy way.  But I do know something that would improve your guitar playing and could speed up your improvement compared to not doing anything at all and expecting it to be enhanced.  If you’re looking for ways to improve your guitar playing, you came to the right place.  I could share to you a little something that would make your guitar skills better.

  1. Dedication – being dedicated to a certain task makes that task easier to do and easier to achieve good results.  This is very much the same with guitar playing.  If you dedicate a sufficient amount of time for practice and follow it very religiously, it would be much easier for you to improve.
  2. Determination – there is nothing impossible for version was very determined to achieve something.  So if you have the sufficient amount of determination, being good at guitar playing is not impossible.  But that if you lack the determination to succeed, you will simply fail at what you’re doing.
  3. Practice – there is nothing more effective than practicing.  Practice, practice, and practice.  That is all that I could suggest to you.  In the end, you will know the benefits of practicing hard.
